As promised at 6am the happy maintenance man whistled his way across the room and flipped the lights on. We managed to pull ourselves together and get everything moved into a storage room like he had asked by 7am.
Since we wanted to be sure we could be out of the way during the day at our host site and since some lucky ride for world healthers were hangin with friends the rest of us were able to pile into one van and take a field trip to pick up our free bagels at Einsteins! We all enjoyed a lovely breakfast and I modeled my stylish fanny pack.
From there we went back to our Tucson home, added a couple more to the van and headed over the University of Arizona for our global health day. It consisted of shouting at people from our table on the mall about free bagels and coffee in an attempt to entice them to come hear about how cool our trip is and buy one of our amazing tshirts or waterbottles. While the table was manned Libby, Megan and I took advantage of the shopping opportunities and got ourselves some new shades. I want to be sure to have a good pair for my sunglasses and bowling party (May 16th, further details coming later).
From there we moved into the med school to give our lecture and then sort out what we would do with the rest of our day off. After approximately 1 hour of attempted decision making we had a plan. Most of us would head to the Museum of the Desert and then reconvene for dinner.
This "museum" turned out to be one of the coolest zoos ever. It had all kinds of desert wildlife including snakes, lizards, mountain lions, otters, and more!
We capped off the night with a lovely dinner at a Mexican restaurant where we celebrated Tim's "birthday"
Hi Shmags,
ReplyDeleteLove the journal and the pics. Tell Libby and Andy and the riders who contribute to the R4WH blog I enjoy theirs as well. Sounds like you are all having an "excellent adventure." Can't wait to see you when you roll into C-bus! Stay safe.
Love, mom
