El Paso, TX - OFF DAY - Friday, April 16th

For some reason we don’t seem to understand the concept of an off day. Here’s how I imagine it going for most people:

-Sleep in late in your very comfortable free hotel room
-Get up and find some delicious brunch/lunch for yourself
-Hang out by the hotel pool for a while
-Head back to the comfy hotel room for a nice nap
-Wake up and grab some dinner
-Reorganize stuff and catch up on blogging before getting back in the wonderful bed

Here’s how our Ride For World Health style off day went:

-Woke up at about 7:30am (after going to bed around 2am following a rockin dance party at the hotel bar and a late night run to Walmart for snacks)
-Played around on the computer for a bit to avoid waking up everyone else in the room
-Start feeling pretty hungry - contact Bryce (who would obviously also be awake) to plan for breakfast
-Send Bryce and Andy to scope out dinners and start texting everyone to wake up and get ready for breakfast
-Head to Mexican style diner for brunch - eat eggs and hashbrowns and pout because they didn’t have anything sweet like pancakes or waffles

-Return to hotel
-Spend some time helping organizing for the next couple days
-Sit by the pool for about an hour
-Reround everyone up to head to White Sands National Monument
-Drive out to White Sands
-Purchase sled for sand dunes

-Run around sand dunes for a few hours

-Watch beautiful sunset

-Reload van and head back to hotel...exhausted.

In the end, amazing day - but probably not the best preparation for a century ride the following morning...

  1. yay Texas! by the way, I'm happy to spot in one of your pictures that you are still in the habit of sunburn-tatooing catchy phrases on your arm :)

    lotsoflove!
